Jay — Owner and Head Muay Thai Coach

Jay is a friendly, positive, and technical Muay Thai fighter and coach with over a decade of fight experience.

His journey has taken him across the globe to train and compete in countries like Canada, the USA, and throughout Asia, giving him a deep and diverse knowledge of the sport.

After initially dedicating his life to competition, Jay has discovered his true calling in teaching.

He has worked with students of all ages and skill levels, an experience that allows him to quickly adapt his coaching to ensure each person gets the most out of every session.

His training philosophy is built on three pillars: train hard but safely, maintain proper technique, and above all, have fun.

In his free time, Jay enjoys training, spending time in nature, journaling, and being with loved ones.

Kim — Manager

Kim ensures Nguyen Martial Arts runs efficiently for both members and staff. With strong organizational skills and a dedication to helping people, she’s focused on making NMA a welcoming and supportive place for everyone.

From managing memberships to coordinating schedules, Kim is always ready to assist with any questions or concerns. Her approachable and professional demeanor makes her an essential part of the NMA team.

Outside the gym, Kim enjoys staying active, spending time in nature, and cherishing moments with her family.

Jennifer Cheng — Kids Muay Thai Coach

Jennifer is a passionate and patient Muay Thai instructor, specializing in coaching kids and teens.

Inspired by her 5-year-old's own passion for the sport, Jennifer was motivated to create a program where young athletes can thrive. Her many years of experience training in Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and Strength and Conditioning bring a well-rounded perspective to her classes, which are designed to be fun and engaging while building a strong foundation in technique, safety, and respect.

Jennifer quickly connects with her young students, adapting her coaching to ensure everyone feels included, motivated, and empowered to do their best.

Her simple coaching philosophy for classes is to learn proper technique, stay active and positive, and most importantly, have fun.

In her free time, Jennifer is dedicated to being the best mother and wife she can be, cherishing every moment with her family.

Carlos Sombero — Muay Thai Coach

Carlo is a dedicated and experienced Muay Thai coach whose deep expertise is rooted in years of training and competition.

He began his journey under Canadian Muay Thai pioneer Master Song and has maintained a lasting loyalty to his teachings. Carlo has competed both in the USA and in Thailand, where he earned a stadium title at 70 kg in Phuket.

With years of coaching experience, Carlo has guided students of all levels from beginners to advanced competitors emphasizing strong fundamentals, patience, and empathy throughout their development. He takes pride in fostering growth and has helped train professionals to success, including a student who became a multi-time champion and competed on a major platform.

At NMA, Carlo is committed to building technical foundations and supporting each student’s progression step by step. Off the mats, he channels his adventurous spirit into traveling, surfing, and photography.

Brandon Law — Jiu-jitsu Coach

Brandon is an enthusiastic and dedicated Jiu-Jitsu coach, passionate about sharing the art of grappling at NMA.

Brandon began his martial arts journey several years ago and has developed a deep appreciation for the technical and practical aspects of Jiu-Jitsu. His coaching style blends effective techniques with engaging drills, always prioritizing safety while maintaining the core values of the art. He believes in building strong fundamentals through consistent, quality training in a supportive environment.

He brings a renewed passion to helping beginners develop proper technique and build confidence through Jiu-Jitsu. His background as a swimming instructor for five years at a premier swim club gives him exceptional patience and clear communication skills that benefit all students.

Brandon's well-rounded martial arts background includes training in both boxing and Muay Thai, giving him a unique perspective on combat sports. He is committed to helping NMA students grow their skills through dedicated, consistent practice.

Outside of the gym, Brandon enjoys swimming and working in aircraft maintenance.
